Ethel was granted a divorce in 1928 and custody of the girls on grounds of desertion. She had not seen Ernest since 1923 and didn't know his whereabouts.
She did know that he had joined the Army as a single man and had an accident in Washington that resulted in amputation of 1 foot.
Survived by her daughters Dorothy E., wife of Francis S. LaMarche of Shrewsbury (married name Carlson in 1958) and Marjorie M., wife of C. William Jernstrom of West Boylston; 2 brothers, Carl Knutson of Sun Valley, Arizona and William Knutson of Worcester.
