He grew up and attended school in Stockham. In 1963, the family moved to Aurora and he graduated from Aurora High School in 1969. During his high school years, he worked for area farmers, and after graduation he went with harvest crews form Texas to Montana until 1971. In 1972, he worked for New Holland in Grand Island, and in 1973 he began working for Sack Lumber Company, where he continued working until his death.
On April 21, 1978, he was united in marriage to Jean Bright, at Aurora. They made their home in Aurora.
Dave enjoyed fishing and teasing his nieces and nephews.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Jean of Aurora; 2 sons Jason Lee and Philip William, both at home; 2 brothers, Doug of Aurora, and Deryl of Hampton; 3 sisters, Sheryl Newman of York, and Sandy Barngrover and Shirley Howell, both of Aurora; his parents Dave and Joyce Kliewer of Aurora; and many other relatives and friends.
