Linda Lorraine Bell, 75, of Cortland, formerly of Lordstown, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2023, at Trumbull Regional Medical Center.

Lorraine was born in Kittanning, Pa., on Aug. 25, 1948, to Raymond and Ruth Geidel Rothwell.

She graduated, in 1966, from Elderton High School, and then attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania and earned her bachelor's degree in education, in 1970. She was the first person in her family to attend college. She then went back to school in 2000, and obtained her master's degree from Marygrove College in Detroit. Lorraine highly valued education and worked as a teacher for over 30 years, before retiring in 2013. She taught at Lordstown High School and at H.C. Mines Intermediate School in Howland.

On Nov. 22, 1969, Lorraine married the love of her life, the Rev. Dr. Johnny R. Bell. Together, they shared 35 years of marriage together before his passing on Oct. 10, 2005. They moved to Lordstown in 1981, and then to Cortland in 2003.

Lorraine was a lifelong Lutheran in the ELCA and was a faithful member of Living Lord Lutheran Church, where she volunteered her time in almost every part of the church. She was a Sponsor for Al-Anon, and a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma-Alpha Omega Chapter. When she was not volunteering, she enjoyed traveling, dinner with friends, spending time with her family, and attending her grandchildren's many functions and activities.

Lorraine is survived by her four children: her twin daughters, Sondra (Ryan) Blankenhorn-Cook of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Sharon (Jeff) Lewis of Newark, Ohio; and her two sons, Tim (Janis) Bell of South Charleston, Ohio, and the Rev. Andrew (Angela) Bell of Palos Heights, Illinois; and her 10 grandchildren, Sydney, Carson, Jonah, Rachel, Ethan, Kirsten, Dylan, Kalina, Isaac and Marek; her great-granddaughter, Elliana; her sister, Gail (Jack) Kinnard, and her brother, Scott (Michelle) Rothwell, both of Kittanning, Pa.; along with many nieces and nephews, and other beloved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Allen Rothwell; and her son-in-law, the Rev. Aaron Blankenhorn.

Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2023, at the Living Lord Lutheran Church, 851 Niles Cortland Road NE, Warren, OH 44484.
