Ralph Leon McKimmy 81, of Paris, died 4 pm Monday (Nov. 13, 2000) at Paris Healthcare Center. He retired from the Illinois Cereal Mill in 1984 as a millwright. He also worked for 16 years as a bus mechanic for the Crestwood School District.
Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday (Nov. 16) at Stewart and Carrol funeral Home, with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial will follow in Vermilion Cemetery, with Military Graveside Rites conducted by American Legion Post #211 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3601. Friends may call 4-8 pm Wednesday, and there will be a Masonic service at 7 pm, during the visitation.
Mr. McKimmy was born Aug. 20, 1919, at Vermilion, the son of Otto F. McKimmy and Mabel Elona Campbell McKimmy. He maried Irma B Johnston Aug 15, 1942, at St. Charles Mo. She died May 3, 1995.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Burkybile, and her husband Don, of Marshall; one brother, Milburn McKimmy of Paris; one grandson, David Burkybile of Marshall; one granddaughter, Michelle Morris of Yorktown, Va; and one great-grandchild.
Mr. McKimmy was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, and he held the rank of Tec 5.
His memberships included; the Nevins Christian Church; Order of the Eastern Star #7; American Legion Post #211; Statton Masionic Lodge #408 A.F. & A.M, where he was Past Master in 1960 and 1979; Union Local A.F.G.M.; and the Edgar County Ansar Shrine Club.
