Charles B. Hartoon, 77, retired Tecumseh jewelryman and a resident of this county since 1889, died about 4 p.m. Saturday in a local hospital following a extented illness. Final rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday in the first Christian Church in Tecumseh with Rev. G. W. Herd and Rev. Vance Horne officiating. Hartoon came to this area with his parents who homesteaded on a farm at the southwest edge of Tecumseh in 1889. He had lived in Tecumseh since that time and has been a member of The First Christian Church in Tecumseh since 1909. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mattie E. Hartoon of the home in Tecumseh; one daughter, Mrs. Laura Ruth Gleckler of Barry, Illinois; two sons, Ralph of Shawnee and Clifford of Fort Smith, Arkansas; two brothers, Perry Hartoon of Yakima, Washington, and Jim of Everson Washington, and six grandchildren.
Burial will be at the Tecumseh Cemetery with Cooper Funeral Home in charge.
