Professional Gymnast, Olympic Silver Medalist. He was born as Karl Jan Aas in Trondheim, Norway, on August 25, 1899. He was a professional gymnast who was a member of the club Trondhjems TF (or Trondhjems Turnforening), of Trondheim, Norway. He would eventually go onto represent his home country of Norway at the 1920 Summer Olympics that were held in Antwerpen, Belgium. Together with his team members including Alf Aanning, Jørgen Andersen, Gustav Bayer, Jørgen Bjørnstad, Asbjørn Bodahl, Eilert Bøhm, Trygve Bøyesen, Ingolf Davidsen, Haakon Endreson, Jacob Erstad, Harald Færstad, Herman Helgesen, Peter Hol, Otto Johannessen, Johan Anker Johansen, Trygve Kristoffersen, Henrik Nilsen, Jacob Opdahl, Arthur Rydstrøm, Frithjof Sælen, Bjørn Skjærpe, Wilhelm Steffensen, Olav Sundal, Reidar Tønsberg, and Lauritz Wigand-Larsen, he was part of the Norwegian men's gymnastics team which won an Olympic Silver Medal in the Team All-Around Competition Artistic Gymnastics Free Systems Men's Event and Men's Apparatus Event. His final team standing score result was ranking 2 with 48.55 points. He continued to represent club Trondhjems TF (or Trondhjems Turnforening), of Trondheim, Norway, and be active in sports events until his death. He was married to Marit Flaathe Aas (1905-1973). He passed away unexpectedly in his native Trondheim, Norway, on September 1, 1943, one week after his 44th birthday, and he was buried in Lademoen Cemetery in Trondheim, Norway, with many other family members including his wife Marit Flaathe Aas who passed away in Trondheim, Norway, on April 17, 1973, where several other famous Norwegian personalities are also laid to rest.
