Husband of Inez Leggett. Father of Daniel "Danny" Griffis. Veteran of WWII, JD was at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii whenever the Japanese attacked. In the picture to the right, he is standing outside of the hospital at Pearl Harbor. JD's abdomen was pierced by a Japanese saber during the war. He was born in Georgia but spent a great deal of his life in Arcadia, Florida near his sister, Doris Cleo Griffis Sullivan. He is buried beside his parents in the Big Creek Cemetery in K'Ville, Georgia
