Knoxville - Harold Wayne Olomon, 100, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2021, at 11:40 AM at the Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville.
Harold was born on July 30, 1921, in Aledo. He was the son of Ezra and Eleanor (Robbins) Olomon. Harold was survived by his siblings, Richard (Marcia) Olomon of Abingdon, Arnold (Sue) Olomon of Eureka, CA, Glenn Olomon and Shirley Tadlock, both of Burlington, IA, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Walter Olomon, Max Olomon, Frank Olomon and Darlene Meth, Francis Stegall; daughter-in-law, Betty Olomon and son-in-law, Dennis Tadlock and his favorite coonhound, Tanner.
Harold was a WWII veteran, who served in the Pacific. After serving his country, Harold came home and farmed in LaBelle and then later in the rural Abingdon area. He could often times be seen mowing and cleaning the road banks of his farm on Route 116. Harold was a member of the LaBelle American Legion Post 200. He also loved to hunt, fish and had an extraordinary talent of shucking corn. Harold loved to work and farm.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to "his girls" at Knox County Nursing Home for taking excellent care and loving him as one of their own members of their family. He felt the same for you all.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville, Illinois. A brief service will be held at the funeral home at 12PM. Graveside services will be 12:30 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Knoxville Cemetery. Rev. Tucker O'Leary will officiate. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knox County Nursing Home Activities Department.
