Jan Wahlgren of Hinckley, Illinois passed away on January 28, 2015 in Naples, Florida, with her husband Wyn at her side, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born on October 4, 1950 in Aurora, Illinois the daughter of Donald and Betty (Ness) Beck. She grew up in Big Rock, IL. Jan was united in marriage to Wyn D. Wahlgren on January 2, 1970 in Hinckley, IL. She was a 1968 graduate of Hinckley-Big Rock High School in Hinckley, IL. She owned and operated, for 24 years, the Dairy Joy Drive-In in Hinckley, IL.
She is survived by her husband, Wyn; a son, Aaron (Tracy) Wahlgren; her grandsons, Wesley Wahlgren and Michael Livingston; her mother-in-law, Lorna Wahlgren of Owasso, OK; a brother Gary (Deb) Beck of Richlands, NC; her sisters, Sue Beck of Batavia, IL, Lisa Herrmann of Big Rock, IL, Lori (Keith) Bastian of Hinckley, IL and Kari (Bill) Dunteman of Big Rock, IL; her brothers-in law, Kent (Jo) Wahlgren and Bart (Linda) Wahlgren; many nieces and nephews; also a large Dairy Joy family, and her Beach friends in Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents; her father-in-law Don Wahlgren; brother-in-law, Richard Herrmann; also her grandparents, Joseph and Josephine Ness and Albert and Henrietta Beck.
A Sunset Memorial Service was held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, January 31, 2015 on the beach at Dakota Street Beach Access in Fort Myers Beach, FL, with Reverend Jeanne Davis, Pastor officiating. A local Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at the Nash-Nelson Memorial Chapel, 141 North Maple Street in Hinckley, IL.
A Funeral Service will then take place at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 16, 2015 at the Hinckley First United Methodist Church, 801 North Sycamore Street, Hinckley, IL, with Pastor Laura Crites, officiating. An additional Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the Hour of Service at the Church in Hinckley, IL. Internment will be private at a later date.
