Some of his stage roles include: Lorenzo in "Merchant of Venice" at Canada's Stratford Festival [1970], Rosencrantz in "Hamlet" at Canada's Stratford Festival [1969], and roles in "The Cherry Orchard," "The Misanthrope" and others at Center Stage in Baltimore, Maryland. He also played "King Lear" at Baltimore Rep.
His two prominent television roles were that of Ted Loomis on "The Edge of Night." He went on to star as Mel Hayes on "One Life to Live" for eleven years. He also appeared in film and over thirty television roles such as "House," "The O.C.", "JAG," "Without a Trace," "Wiseguy," and "Star Trek: The Next Generation."
He was nominated for a 1988 Joseph Jefferson Award for Actor in a Principal Role in a Play for "Passion Play" at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois.
He died from complications due to Parkinson's Disease at his home. He was married to Leslie Monthan from 1995 to 2000 and later Deborah Dietrich at the time of his death. He is also survived by his daughter Alexandra.
