Doris Lail (Stahl) passed peacefully at Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, FL on October 3, 2017 at the age of 88.

Doris, a sweet and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend is survived by her daughters Michele and LuAnn, grandchildren Paige, Heather, Drew, Amber and Jennifer, great-grandchildren Ashley, Tyler, Zachary, Campbell and Ignacio as well as her sister Joyce. She is preceded in death by husbands Louis and Glenn, parents Alfred and Cleopha, siblings James, Robert, Jack, Darlene, Roy, Alfred Jr., and daughter Mary Francis.

Doris was born in Dayton, Ohio to Alfred and Cleopha Stahl. She graduated from Parker Co-operative High School in 1947 and attended St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing thereafter. She married Louis Melia, delivered her first daughter Michele and moved to Florida where LuAnn was born. She pursued a career in banking from which she retired. She later married Glenn Lail adding two step-children Kevin and Karin, grandchildren Paxton, Taylor, Sydnie, Dane and Allie to her family while adopting Lake Hickory NC as her second home. We remember her for teaching us to stand on our own two feet and to aspire to become whatever we desired. We know she considered us and our needs ahead of herself. She taught us the value of family and of kindness to all. The health and personal obstacles along her life's path were met head on with strength and courage providing an amazing role model.

As a child, Doris tap danced and as a young woman she sang with Lou's swing band. Later she was active with Lou in the Knights of Columbus, served as a Brownie troop leader, and became an officer of the "Women in Banking" organization. For the past few years Doris, "The Queen's Mum", enjoyed Red Hatting with Michele and LuAnn; attending and hosting activities for her chapter of the international Red Hat Society.

Doris' ashes will be inurned at Fred Hunter Peace Mausoleum, Sunlight Niches in the Hollywood Memorial Gardens, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, FL 33024 954-210-5275
