VELMA -- Services for Eva Maye Strickland, 80, will be at 2 p.m. Friday the Velma Church of Christ with Ronnie Worsham and John Werhan officiating. Interment will be at New Velma Cemetery.
Mrs. Strickland died April 30, 1997, at her home. She was born July 16, 1916, at Velma, to Cal and Essie Arnold Couey.
She married Guy Strickland Nov. 1, 1931, in Velma. He preceded her in death Nov. 8, 1981. She was owner of Eva's Cafe many years.
Survivors include three sons, Guy, DeQueen, Ark., Jerry, Tussy, and Bill, Velma; four daughters Shirley Breen, Spokane, Wash., Joyce Bright, Barbara Tadlock and Pat Jenkins, Velma; two brothers, Cain Couey, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Leon Couey, Duncan; five sisters, Eula Little, Velma, Dorothy Fisher and Billie Kitchen, Oklahoma City, Lucille Knight, Sayre, and Peggy Rowtan, Dallas; 24 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Grandsons will serve as bearers.
Bailes-Polk-Brooks Funeral Home, Duncan, will direct services.
