Marjorie E. (Kelley) Bessette, 98, of Fairhaven died November 12, 2021 at home.

She was the wife of the late Eugene J. Bessette. Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Arthur M. and Elsie M. (Russell) Kelley, she lived in New Bedford all of her life before moving to Fairhaven in 2019.

She was formerly employed as a medical secretary on Lumbard Ward at St. Luke's Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, and working crossword puzzles. Marjorie was a kind and giving soul loved by all.

Survivors include her son, Wayne Bessette and his wife Patricia of Florida; 2 daughters, Doreen Benedetti of Dartmouth and Christine Brown and her husband Rick of Fairhaven; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bessette of New Hampshire; 7 grandchildren, Lisa Benedetti, Angela Deneault, Amy Thompson, Michael Bessette, Amanda Grillo, Michelle Yoder and Kathryn Hudson; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a special niece, Elizabeth O'Brien and family; and two nephews, Michael Kelley and Stephen Kelley. She was the mother of the late Paul Bessette and the sister of the late Richard Kelley and Gertrude Mailhot.

Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 19th at 11:30 AM in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Community Nurse & Hospice 62 Center St., Fairhaven, MA 02719.
