The Gundagai Times and Tumut, Adelong and Murrumbidgee District Advertiser (NSW : 1868 - 1931) Sat 16 Sep 1871
A masonic funeral, the first of the kind in these districts, took place on Sunday afternoon last, on the occasion of the interment of Mr. A. D. Rankin. The deceased was an honorable member, having assembled and opened Lodge. The hearse was followed by a, very long procession of friends, and, arrived at the gate of the cemetery. The deceased was a native of Morvin, Argyleshire, Scotland, and for some years past has satisfactorily discharged the duties of Wardsman of the Gundagai Hospital. He leaves a wife and young family, and, it may be a consolation to them to know, a large circle of sorrowing friends by whom he was universally respected.
