Mr. Newman was born Sept. 10, 1892, the son of Seldon J. and Margaret Orwig Newman, in West Jersey Township, Stark County.
He was married Dec. 31, 1925 to Mabel Helen Noard.
Surviving are three sons, Seldon, Kewanee; Isaac, LaFayette; Lyle, Chillicothe; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Warba) Casteel, Aurora, Colorado; seven grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Bliss Harmon, Toulon and Mrs. Gladys Beamer of Wyoming; five brothers – Gordon and Dayton of Toulon; Ray, Astoria, Oregon; Ralph, Kewanee; and Carl of Galva.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one grandson and one brother.
He was a World War I veteran.
Kidd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with burial in LaFayette Cemetery.
