Efren Barraza Abreo
June 18, 1932 - November 28, 2021

Efren Barraza Abreo, age 89, of Spring Branch Texas passed away unexpectedly and went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2021. He was born in Big Spring, Texas on June 18, 1932 to Domingo and Luz (Barraza) Abreo.

After high school, he served in the Air Force. Efren was Honorably Discharged and then worked for the VA Hospital as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) in Big Spring, Texas. Following his time at the VA Hospital, Efren worked in the Civil Service for thirty years.

Efren was a talented artist who loved to paint, enjoyed woodworking, and creating with anything he could get his hands on. During his spare time, you could find him working on a home improvement project. He loved being outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Efren was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was loved by all his family and friends. His humor, wit, storytelling, smile and those amazing bushy eyebrows will be remembered by all.

Efren was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Luz Abreo; late wife, Esther Bueno Abreo; daughters, Elma Jean Abreo-Gonzalez, Elizabeth Camacho; son, Benny Dominguez (Clotilde Abreo son). Efren was also preceded in death by his brother and sisters; Salvador Abreo, Fe Acosta, Gloria Galan, Hope Esperanza DaSilva, and Mary Ann Ficke.

Survivors include his wife, Clotilde Abreo and her children, Elizabeth (Jason) Bradner, Raquel (Rodney) Berger. Efren leaves behind his sons and daughter, Michael Bueno Abreo, Johnny (Christine) Abreo and Debra (Floyd) Archuleta. Surviving brothers and sister; Noe (Rosa) Abreo, Jimmy (Eloisa) Abreo, David (Edeltraud) Abreo, and Mary Elizabeth (Roy) Rainey. Efren is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requested memorials be made to Bulverde Baptist Church.

Military Honors Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on January 7, 2022 at 10am. Following the service a Funeral Reception will be held at Bulverde Baptist Church.
