Obituary for Clarence "Tobe" Anderson, Jr.
Clarence Eugene Anderson, known as "Tobe" by most of his family and friends, was born on July 26th, 1936 on a small family farm / ranch located west of Yanush, Oklahoma to Clarence Jackman and Flossie (Sturgeon) Anderson. There, he began his life's work of raising cattle and good horses. He graduated from Buffalo Valley High School in 1954. Then he served in the U.S. Army from December 1954 until 1958. Tobe was proud of his Choctaw heritage. He took pride in his small community. Serving on the Buffalo Valley School Board, The Latimer County Cattleman's Association, The Cupco Cemetery Committee, and worked with the Talihina Round-up Club as President and Board of Directors for over 20 years. Tobe worked hard at making a living for his family. In the early years, he worked construction in OKC, cut pulp wood, and raised cattle before settling on a 22 year career at the Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma. After his retirement in 1988, aside from supporting his kids and grandkids, rodeoing, play-daying, playing basketball, baseball, showing their 4H and FFA animals, he spent his free time hunting rabbits with his beagles, hunting deer in season, and doing his favorite thing, hunting wild hogs on horseback.

Tobe is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Rowletta Carlton Anderson of the home; two daughters, Carol Dean Anderson of Yanush, OK, and Cheryl Jean Winn and husband Shane of McAlester, OK; one son, Kirk Anderson and wife Jerrie of Yanush, OK; four grandchildren, Curtis Shelton and wife Stephanie of McAlester, OK, Robin Pollock of the home, Lydia Fields and husband Ben of Michigan, and Elizabeth Gunter and husband Shaun of Warr Acres, OK; six great grandchildren, Sydney Shelton and fiance Hunter Mason of McAlester, OK, Colten Phillips, Heston Pollock, MaKensey Shelton, Sawyer Kimble and Atlas Gunter; one sister in law, Rowena Handleman of Albion, OK, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.

Tobe is preceded in passing by his parents; brothers, Euell Anderson, and Duane Anderson; and one sister, Doris Smith.

Pallbearers will be Kirk Anderson, Curtis Shelton, Colten Phillips, Heston Pollock, Tracy Sturgeon, and Troy Sturgeon.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Byron Bohanon, Jimmy Kirkes, Jack Brown, Roy McCormick, Preston Binge, John Emmert, David Sprouse, Melvin Sturgeon, Jimmy Morris, Arvil Nelson, Vernis King, Tom Lucas, Nathan Lucas, and Bob Holt

Visitation will be on Friday, December 10th, 2021 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at McCarn Funeral Service in Talihina, Oklahoma.

Services will be on Sunday, December 12th, 2021 at 2:00PM at Yanush Assembly of God Church with Bro. Michael Kennedy and Bro. Shane Winn officiating. Interment will follow at Cupco Cemetery in Yanush, OK. Services are under the direction of McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma.
