Born in Warsaw, New York, Joseph was the son of William Anthony and Mary Eliza (nee Lawrence) Bower. Moving to Pompton Plains with his family in 1943, Joseph grew up here.
Marrying Marion Luyster, the couple settled in Pompton Plains, raising three children. A mechanic, Joseph supported his family as an employee at Royal Pontiac in Butler, until retiring in 2003.
Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Marion; his children, Martin Bower and his girlfriend Christine, Joann Schulze and her husband John and Debra Morlot and her husband Jay; his sisters, Marilyn Evitts and Margaret Cisco; and his five grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
