Son of Sir Knight Robert "Curthose" de Normandie, Duke of Normandy and Agnes de Ribemont, Duchess of Normandie

Albert of Aix records the participation of "Guillaume son of Robert Prince of Normandy" in the Crusades .

Joined his brother and father on the First Crusade 1096–1099.

Married 1105 the widow of his brother Richard who had died in 1100.

He left for Jerusalem after his father's defeat with Baldwin fighting against Damascene troops in Galilee in October 1106. H was ordered to Jerusalem for reinforcements by King Baudouin I before leading a major attack on Arab positions in the trans-Jordan area in Aug 1108. He was placed in command of Tortosa after the town was captured by Bertrand Count of Tripoli in 1110 before the Siege of Sidon. On 19 October, 1110 the Siege of Sidon began and on the last day 5 December 1110, Guillaume son of Robert Prince of Normandy, was killed.
