David Charles Brown passed away peacefully Friday, July 26, 2019, at Freeman Hospital West, Joplin.

He was born on Feb. 22, 1953, in Parsons to Robert and Jane Hayes Brown.

David attended St. Patrick's and Parsons High School, graduating in 1971. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he received an honorable discharge. He worked several jobs before settling in with Ruskin Manufacturing. He spent his remaining work career at Ruskin and retired after 36 years.

He was an avid Parsons Vikings fan. You could count on him being in the stands of the home basketball and football games. However, his true love was for the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. If they were on TV, he was watching the game.

He leaves behind seven brothers and sisters, Barbara Hoskins (Howard), Debbie Evans (Randy), Peggy Bradshaw, Sally Yarke (Joe), Mary Watson (Mike), Tom Brown (Sherry) and Bob Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bruce Brown and Jane Hayes Brown; and an older brother, Bill Brown.

The family will host a remembrance party at Arvon Phillips Community Center from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. Dave's favorite meal of spaghetti, his mom's coleslaw, garlic bread and beverages will be served. Friends are invited to come and share a favorite story with his family.
