OBITUARY
Dr. Donald "Doc" L. Chubb, 78, was a resident of Cleveland, Tenn. for the past two and a half years, passed away Thursday, Feb.12, 2004, in a local health care facility. Doc was born and raised in Winter Park, Florida. He was a second generation Floridan. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, who served during World War II. and a retired optometrist. Don was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland M. Chubb and Barbara Flye Chubb,; son, Donald "Bubba" L. Chubb, Jr.; two brothers, Leland M. Chubb, Jr., and Henry Simpson Chubb.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his wife, Maude Gibson Chubb; a daughter, Joanne Balmer Swafford; a grandson, Jimmy E. Balmer,II and wife, Dr. Lori H. Balmer; and two great-grandchildren, Brandon M. Balmer and Caroline O. Balmer, all of Cleveland, Tenn.

Donald L. Chubb was a member of the graduating Class of 1950 from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn. After graduation Donald and his family returned to Winter Park, Florida, where he established his practice. Dr. Donald L. Chubb practiced Optometry in Winter Park for the next forty years. He was also an active member of the Winter Park Lions Club for over 15 years. Most of those years he received a "special pin" for 100% attendance.

Doc was a big outdoors man. He enjoyed staying at his cabin in the Ocala National Forest, where he spent his spare time hunting deer using either a bow & arrow or a gun. Father and son, shared a common hobby, flying. Donald and Bubba were both members of the E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft
Association.) Donald belonged to Chapter 74, of Orlando, Florida, and was the editor of his chapter's newsletter, "Tale Spin." Bubba belonged to Chapter 345, of N. W. Houston. Both enjoyed many hours
soaring with the eagles.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Baldwin-Fairchild Funeral Home, Forest City Chapel, Altamonte Springs, Florida.
