Information gathered from the research of Michelle Shreve:

Mabelle is the daughter of Elias Frederick and Martha Jane (Biggs) Hamilton. Her childhood was spent in Henderson County, Illinois.

Mabelle married Raymond Arthur Willis on October 24, 1901 in Jerseyville, Illinois. They had six known children: Dorothy E.; Raymond Ernest; Kenneth; Louise Margaret; Emma Jane; James. Raymond was a machinist for the railroad and the family lived in Galesburg, Illinois. Raymond died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1921.

After her husband's death, Mabelle moved her children to Royal Oak, Michigan. She trained to become a nurse and was working in this capacity at a private home in Royal Oak in 1930. On June 10, 1930 Mabelle married William Harry Fulwider in Gregory County, South Dakota. It is a real mystery as to how she met him and why they married so far from her home. By 1940 she and William were living in Gregory, South Dakota. William was the owner of a sweet shop there.

Unfortunately, the marriage ended in divorce. By 1945 Mabelle was once again living in Royal Oak and working as a nurse in Ardmore Hospital. She had reverted back to using her married name "Willis."
