Evelyn F. Banwart, 103, passed away peacefully at Sunset Haven on November 1, 2021. She was born on April 14, 1918 in rural Burlington township the daughter of Alphonse and Magdalen (Herbert) Schneider. Her early years were spent on a farm and she attended a one room schoolhouse. She married her first husband Donald Ewert on May 20, 1939 and raised five children. She was a resident of Elgin most of her life. Survivors include five children: Linda (Alan) Johnson of South Elgin; Lawrence (Carrol) Ewert of Naples, FL, James (Diane) Ewert of Bluffton, SC; Janet Murrell of Naples, FL and Cheryl (Walt) Lutz of Elgin, seven grandchildren: Jeff, Brian, Kristin, Justen, Melissa, Jason and Cody and five great grandchildren: Morgan, Kevin, Dylan, Brent and Cecily along with many family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Donald Ewert in 1966; her second husband Ken Banwart in 1991; three sisters and six brothers and son-in-law Larry Murrell. The family would like to thank Dr. Susarla and staff, Sunset Haven and the staff of Kindred Hospice for their great care. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, November 8, 2021 at 11 AM at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Elgin. Burial will follow at River Valley Memorial Gardens, West Dundee.
