CONWAY - Alonzo "Al" Preston Blackburn, Jr., 73, a retired long-distance truck driver, died Friday in a nursing home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hardwick Memorial Chapel in Loris. Burial will be in Twin City Memorial Gardens in Loris.

Mr. Blackburn was born in Loris, a son of Alonzo P. Blackburn and Maggie Fowler Blackburn Ward. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was Baptist.

Surviving are two daughters, Debra McLean of Columbia and Sharron Spears of West Virginia; a son, Michael W. Blackburn of Columbia; two sisters, Frankie Quimby of Loris and Betty Causey of North Myrtle Beach; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
