Barbara Jo Baurer, age 78, of Peoria, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. She was born on March 14, 1943 in Peoria to William and Virginia (Selby) Carlin. Barbara is survived by her daughter Kimberly Ann (Baurer) Molloy and her husband Ross of Darien, CT, her partner of almost 30 years, Michael Buchanan of Peoria, grandchildren, Selby Kaylin and Thomas Ross of Darien, CT and Sarah Jo, Lilo William, and Brooke Elizabeth of Geneva, step-son, Ryan Michael Buchanan of Chicago, and nieces, Janelle Freeman of Poplar Grove and Barbara Miller of Mt. Prospect. She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jeffrey W. Baurer, sister, Sharon L. Miller, and aunt, Josephine M. Selby. After earning her Bachelor's degree, she was a 3rd grade teacher for District 150. When her children were born, she stayed home to raise them and also worked as a substitute teacher at Lindbergh School and Richwoods High School. Barbara was an amazing grandmother who doted on and spoiled her grandchildren. They were her world. She also enjoyed spending summers at her cabin on Long Lake, Wisconsin. She loved being on the water and making memories with her family at this special place. A funeral mass will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 and there will be no visitation. Fr. David Richardson will preside. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Peoria.
