James "Punch" Banfield Sr. of Kincaid died on March 13, 1990 in St. Vincent Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Banfield was born August 1, 1924 in Buchtel, Ohio, a son of James H. Banfield and Lennie Dell Secoy Banfield. He married Pauline Everett on May 27, 1944 in Taylorville. Mr. Banfield was a retired coal miner. He worked for many years at Freeman Crown Mine, retiring from the Consol Mine at Coffeen in 1981. He was a member of the Kincaid Church of God.
Surviving are his widow, Pauline; one sones James Banfield Jr.; five daughters, Mrs. John (Marilyn) Steele, Taylorville, Mrs. Michael (Linda) O'Dell, Kincaid; Mrs. Kenneth (Pat) Daughterty, Kincaid; Mrs. Michael (Rita) Barrish, Pana, Mrs. Clayton (Delores) Hay, Kincaid; one brother William Banfield, Springfield, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Newman, Lancaster, Ohio and Mrs. Blanch Russell of Kincaid, 22 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, one sister and one stepson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Masterson Funeral Home at Kincaid. The body will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service. Services will be held at 11 a.m. in the Church of God In Kincaid. Pastor Forest L. Hagood will officiate and burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
