PLEASANT PLAINS - Mable Hyacinth Barber Miller, 92, of Pleasant Plains, Illinois, went to be with the Lord on January 31, 2010, following a massive stroke on January 25, 2010.

Mable was born August 1, 1917 in Pittsfield, Illinois, the daughter of Truman Hicks Barber and Sarah Byrd Barber. She married Frank Maxwell Lewis; he preceded her in death. She then married Glen E. Miller on October 19, 1944 and he preceded her in death August 14, 1973.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Frances; two brothers, August Raynard Barber and George Barber; her daughter, Janice Yoakum; two sons-in-law, Edward Earl "Butch" Beard and Russ Miller; one nephew and one niece.

Mrs. Miller was a member of Farmingdale Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed farming with her husband Glen E. Miller until his death. She later started Hilltop Furniture Store and when she closed it, she joined her daughter Ginger in antiquing at two antique malls. She enjoyed feeding the birds and her cat Socksey. She was very active until she was called home.

She is survived by her daughters, Dixie (husband Leo) Alvies of Springfield and Ginger (husband Jerry) Doyle of Pleasant Plains, IL; five grandchildren, Mark (wife Terri) Beard, Ron (wife Beverly) Dunkel and Susan Kay Hinds, all of Sherman, IL, and Blake Alvies of Cape Coral, Florida, and Jodie (husband Chris) Edmonds of Springfield, IL; there are seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home West, 2931 S. Koke Mill Rd. where a prayer service will be at 4:00 PM Tuesday February 2, 2010 with visitation following until 7:00 PM Tuesday. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday February 3, 2010 at the funeral home with Rev. Peter Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Farmington Cemetery, Farmingdale, IL.
