Johannes known as John: I have seen his name given as John Henry Haffner Switzer. And his wife as Katherine Rebecca Lambert Switzer; she was apparently called Rebecca. I think I read somewhere that his mother called him Johannes. Rebecca was the daughter of Peter Lambert who was born about 1790.

Children of John H. Switzer and Rebecca Lambert Switzer:

1. Mary Catherine born 1842 m. my great-grandfather Wm Frederick Croushorn, a Civil War veteran from Augusta County, VA. Children: John (died age 19 in hunting accident); James Wm my grandfather; Charles D. (no children); Ollie Virginia Croushorn Harshbarger who moved to Montana then Pass Christian, MS, where she and her husband lived the final years of their life; Annie and Fanny (or Fannie). Both married. I have further info on Annie and Fanny but not at my fingertips. One married a Snow. -------I also think Mary Catherine and William had another son who may have been stillborn or died in infancy. I need to do further work on that.

Mary Catherine and Wm F. Croushorn are buried in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Augusta County, Mt. Sidney, VA.

2. Samuel Henry Switzer born Mar 3, 1844

3. Jacob Daniel Switzer born 1846

4. Sara Frances Switzer born 1849

5. James Grandeville Switzer born 1851 - I believe he lived in South Dakota.

6. Elizabeth Jane Switzer born 1854

7. John William Switzer born 1856 - This is the one our family called "Uncle Will."

8. Emily Switzer born 1859 - perhaps this was Aunt Emma?
