Mr. Arnold Richard Bennett, Sr., 65, died suddenly Friday morning (December 21, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center.

He was a native of Bacon County, but he has lived most of his life in Dixie Union. He was employed by CSX Railroad as a sheet metal worker for 36 years, and he served in the National Guard for 24 years. He was also a member of Jordan New Congregational Church.

He is the son of the late Aron Richard Bennett and Viroue Turner Bennett.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Virue Musgrove Bennett of Dixie Union; two sons, Ricky Bennett (wife Becky) of Manquin, VA, and Archy Bennett (wife Selena) of Dixie Union; 8 grandchildren, Keri, Rebecca, Christie, Johnathan, Charity, Jessica, Brandon and Trista; a sister, Harriett Bennett Bagley of Dixie Union; two brothers, Ansley Bennett (wife Linda) of Alma, and Alex Bennett of Dixie Union; a nephew, Andy Bennett of Alma; and numerous other relatives and special friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday (December 24, 2007) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Jordan Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
