Michael C. Potyrala
Potyrala, Michael C. COHOES Michael C. Potyrala, 86, of Ontario St., Cohoes, died Thursday December 20, 2007 at Samaritan Hospital, Troy embraced by his loving family. Born in Cohoes, he was the son of the late George and Bronislawa Potyrala and husband of the late Joelean M. Borden Potyrala. Mike was a life long resident of Cohoes and was educated in the Cohoes schools. He was employed as a general forman and later as a security officer with the former Norton Company in Watervliet, retiring in 1982. Mike was a World War II Army veteran serving in Central Europe in the Rhineland. He was the recipient of the American Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle Eastern Service Medal and the Ward War II Victory Medal. Mike enjoyed bowling, fishing and the many family camping trips. He truly enjoyed being in the company of his beloved family. Mike was a communicant and usher at St. Michael's Church in Cohoes. He is survived by his devoted children, Joelean (Lynn) Dearstyne of Cohoes, Susan (Walt) Zayhowski of Schagticoke, Debbie ( Dennis) Prudhomme, Michael D. (Sandy) Potyrala and Thomas M. Potyrala, all of Cohoes; cherished grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Amanda, Erik, Richard, Lisa, Brian, Michelle, John, Nicole, D.J., Brandon, Joshua and Ryan, nine adored great grandchildren; loving siblings, Edward (Louise) Potyrala, Bernard (Edna) Potyrala, all of Cohoes, Millie Rajeski and Jeanne Smith, both of Mechanicville; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Adele O'Brien and Stasia Muraski and brother, John Potyrala. Funeral from the Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Ltd., 105 Vliet Blvd., Cohoes Monday morning at 8:30. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Michael's Church at 9 o'clock. Interment with military honors will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends are invited any may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Those wishing to remember Mike may make contributions in his memory to St. Michael's Church, Special Projects, 36 Page Ave., Cohoes NY 12047.
