His parents, Edward and Elizabeth sold their property and separated in 1870. Elizabeth then move to Wellsville, Columbiana County,OH. with her children, evidently telling them their father had died. Edward move to Antwerp, MI. and lived with his daughter Laura Ward and son-inlaw David M Ward. Elizabeth remarried to (unknown) Geddis and lived in Pittsburg, PA. for a while.
Elizabeth, William and Carrie in about 1878 moved to Greenfield Twp. Rooks Co. KS where she filed for a homestead in Greenfield Twp.
After William's mother died in 1887, he moved to Chanute, KS. where he met and married a widow, Carlena Johnson, with 3 daughters, Lillian, Victoria and Mae M. Johnson. William worked for the M. K. & T. Railroad as a machinist in the shop. Their daughter, Ella was born there. They then moved to Parsons into a beautiful new 2 story home on a tree lined street. It was still a beautiful house in 2008 when I saw it.
Their daughter Lenore was born here. Ella and Lenore visited their Aunt Carrie Belle Crain Brown, in Woodston, KS, when ever possible.
