Carl Baumbach, Russian Native, Dies at Age 88
Carl (Charlie) Baumbach, 88, of 532 E. Tokay St. died Fri. afternoon in a local hospital following a short illness.
Born in Russia June 9, 1874, he came to the United States at the age of 2 1/2. His family settled near Milton, SD., where his father was engaged in the farming business. In 1899, he moved to Bowden, ND where he lived until 1906, when he went to Lincoln Valley, ND. In 1934, the family came to Lodi.
Mr. Baumbach, a member of the Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church, has been retired for many years.
He was the husband of Mrs. Elizabeth Baumbach, of Lodi; the father of C. C, Baumbach, of Lodi; Mrs. Mary Eiseman, of Hayward; Elmer Baumbach, of Escalon; Emil Baumbach, of Stockton; Harold Baumbach, of Lodi; Mrs. Irene Gruszie, of Lodi; the late Jacob Baumbach, of Lodi; Mrs. Ottile Gomes, of Stockton; Wilbert Baumbach, of Lodi; and the late Albert, Louise, and Martha Baumbach, of McClusky, ND; he was the brother of Mrs. Louise Wagner, of Oakland, Ca. and Mrs. Lydia Harger, of Lodi.
Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held in the Fairmont Seventh-day Adventist Church at 2pm Tues.,
Feb. 5. Burial will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the Lodi Funeral Home Chapel until noon on Tues.
