Union City, IN - Jimmy Ray Adkins, 77, died December 25, 2021 at his residence.

He was born April 9, 1944, in Muncie, the son of Newell and Verena (Welsh) Adkins. Jimmy lived in Greensburg for many years before moving back to Muncie, where he lived most of his life. Recently, he resided in Union City, Indiana.

Mr. Adkins worked for many farmers in Greensburg and Muncie before being employed with Delco Remy for 16 and ½ years until his retirement.

Jimmy enjoyed raccoon, deer and rabbit hunting for more than 49 years. He also loved to fish and garden.

He is survived by his wife, Reva Brummitt Adkins; five sons, Gregory Adkins, Mike Adkins, Kevin Adkins, Dennis Adkins, and Benjamin Adkins; a step daughter, Pam Lackey; nine grandchildren; a step grandchild; three brothers, Marvin Adkins, Robert Adkins, Gary Adkins; three sisters, Jo Ann Cook, Wanda Moore, and Mila Best; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Sportsman; and one brother, Donald Adkins.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, December 30, 2021 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Jones Cemetery.

Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 10:00 am until service time at Noon on Thursday, December 30, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Little Red Door of East Central Indiana, 2311 W. Jackson Street, Muncie, IN 47303.
