Aaron Adams and Susannah Walker Adams left Massachusetts sometime in the latter part of 1813, or in early 1814, and migrated to the state of New York. A document found in the Adams' records disclosed that Aaron Adams served in the New York Militia in 1814. Aaron's first wife, Susannah Walker, apparently died in Penfield, Ontario County, New York some time after December 07, 1814. In the latter part of 1818 or in 1819, Aaron Adams migrated west with his family (including new wife Amy Collins), stopping in Grant County, Kentucky, before settling in Indiana. He was in Washington County, Indiana by the year 1827, although it is not certain exactly what year he arrived there. His second wife, Amy Collins, died somewhere along the way in either Kentucky or Indiana. Aaron then married third wife Nancy Freeman in 1827. Aaron Adams first settled in southern Washington County, Indiana, near where the counties of Washington, Harrison, Crawford and Orange were joined. The records in all four counties fail to disclose that he ever owned any land in Indiana. However, his son Leander Franklin Adams entered many acres in Harrison County and also some in Crawford County from the government. The exact burial site of Aaron Adams is not known. His estate was probated in Crawford County, which is where he resided at the time of his death. A receipt for a monument was found among the Adams' papers, showing that his son, Leander Franklin Adams, purchased on set of Indiana marble gravestones from W. R. Haraer on December 06, 1856, which were to be inscribed: "Aaron, son of D. & M. Adams born October 07, 1784 died August 1838" The headstone was to be delivered at shop by February, for the cost of $11.00. A diligent search has been made by many of Aaron's descendants to locate his grave, but so far to no avail.
