Jay is preceded in death by his parents, and survived by his wife of fifty years, Virginia A. (Vodney) Hutchings; daughters, Rheba A. Lundsford (Michael) and Dawn R. Hayden (Mark); stepdaughters, Lynda J. Fee, Deborah F. Calvert, and stepson Michael D. Calvert (Rachael); brothers, Charles T. Hutchings and Darrel L. Hutchings (Rosie). He was "Poppy" to twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
Jay worked for Naval Avionics Center starting in October of 1955 and retiring in December of 1989. He was an avid golfer for many years, winning several tournaments. Jay also enjoyed bird watching.
Funeral services for Jay are Thursday, December 30 at 1:00 PM with visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Franklin Township Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Orchard Hill Cemetery in Wanamaker, Indiana.
