Steven was born in Moca, Puerto Rico, on November 2, 1999, and came to Woodway when he was two months old. He was a student at the Midway Independent School District most of his life. He was studying Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Steven loved tutoring kids in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), including robotics, while being a student at Midway ISD. Additionally, he enjoyed mentoring others in martial arts as a Second Degree Black Belt in Ba Ki Do. His passions included reading, drawing, listening to electronic dance music (EDM), watching anime, playing console/PC/VR games, and practicing firearm sports.
He is survived by his loving parents, Vidal Acevedo Bocheciamp and Dollyvette Colón Medina; cherished sister Stephanie Nicole Acevedo; proud grandparents Vidal Acevedo Guivas, Elizabeth Bocheciamp Gonzales, Luis Alfredo Colón Nieves, Dolores Medina Morales; adored aunts and uncles Madelyn Acevedo, Wilson Acevedo, Luis Alfredo Colón Medina, William Alfredo Colón Medina; cousins, and many other family members.
Steven's celebration of life will be on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm CT at the Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium 8220 Woodway Drive, Woodway, Texas. The eulogy will begin that evening at approximately 6:30 pm – 7:00 pm CT and stream live. A bilingual mass service will be conducted on Thursday, December 30, 2021, 10:00 am – 11:00 am CT, and will also be streamed live from the Saint Francis Church on the Brazos 315 Jefferson Avenue, Waco, Texas. The family strongly encourages visitors to use face coverings, sanitize hands, and social distance appropriately during both events.
Steven will be cremated, and a portion of his ashes will remain with family members. The remaining ashes will be dispersed at the Charles River in front of MIT in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Puerto Rico with a memorial with family and friends.
