Arthur Duane Pettay was born to Franklin Richard Pettay and Elsie Semmel on November 25, 1935. He has 3 older syblings: Leslie Dawson, William, and Bertha Mae Fenimore. He was in the Air Force in the late 50's early 60's and moved to the Navy in the early 1960's. He was stationed in San Diego and served on the USS Bennington and later was transfered to China Lake Navel Weapons Center, near Ridgecrest, California. He married Deloris Ann Whittaker in April, 1961 and they had 2 daughters: Laura Ruth and Terri Lynn. While they later divorced, Arthur never remarried. He died in November, 1974. He is greatly missed by many, not the least of all me, his oldest child. He was a kind soul and too tender for this world. He gave me my crazy sense of humor and a compassion for others. I pray that his soul is at rest in the hands of God.
