Stefan Alekasander Basye Johnson, the beloved son of Steven Johnson of West Williamson and the late Nancy Basye Johnson, passed away on December 29, 2021 at the Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY. He was 37.
In addition to his mother, Stefan was preceded in death by a loving aunt, Kathy Johnson, his maternal grandparents, Clinton and Ethel Bivens Basye and Kathleen Stone Basye.
Stefan was born on March 9, 1984 in Pikeville, KY. He grew up in West Williamson, was a graduate of Williamson High School and Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. He was employed at Tudor's in Goody, KY.
As a youngster growing up, Stefan attended the East Williamson Baptist Church and he was baptized there. He was a very loving son and spent several years caring for his mother, Nancy, as her primary caregiver before her passing in 2012.
As it seems to be with most people who are animal lovers, Stefan was kind and gentle. He held a special affection for cats. He was a rather quiet and private individual by nature, and he enjoyed his solitude rather than being in a large gathering of people. Some of his interest included collecting vinyl records, and he had amassed quite a collection of records over the years. He was also an avid reader. Another of his passions was movie going. He and his dad often went to movies together as they shared the love of movies. Stefan was also a major Chicago Cubs fan. He had followed the Cubs for much of his life and he was almost always seen wearing a Chicago Cubs ball cap.
Stefan's heart was golden as he was often spontaneously generous to others. He was a joy to not only his parents, but also his grandparents, his brother, his sister-in-law and his loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins. Stefan will be sorely missed, and the many beautiful memories that he leaves will be cherished and treasured always.
In addition to his father, Steven Johnson, Stefan is survived by his only sibling and loving brother, Benjamin Johnson and his wife, Kathy Johnson, his paternal grandparents, George and Marlene Johnson, his aunts and uncles, Karen and Grant Preece, Kima and Barry Jude and George "Danny" Basye and his wife, Barbara. Also surviving are a several cousins who loved Stefan very much.
Funeral services for Stefan will be private with his uncle, Reverend Barry Jude officiating. He will be laid to rest alongside other family members at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV.
Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson is serving the Johnson family.
