Unfortunately, the tombstone of William Abercrombie, Sr. doesn't have legible dates. The records of William Abercrombie and his son, Isaac, are replete with spelling Abercrombie as "A'Crumbie" or just "Crumbie" with variations. This has led to some sources inserting an "A" as his middle initial, e.g. Isaac A'Crumbie.

William Abercrombie (A'Crombie) married Sarah Aracey Picard, his first wife and mother of my Abercrombie ancestor, Isaac Abercrombie, about 1790 in Laurens Co., S.C. Sarah was born about 1765 in South Carolina.

William Abercrombie was 35 Y/O in 1800 and was enumerated in Laurens Co., SC in the 1800 US Census as between 26-44 Y/O. A 46 acre plat on Raybourns Creek, Laurens District, S.C. surveyed by Jonathon Downs was associated with William Abercrombie on 03 Jan 1807.

The 1810 US Census of Laurens District, S.C. enumerated William Arbecubee (William Abercrombie, Sr.) in the age range of 26 thru 44 .

Sometime after 1813, the year his last child, Mary Leola Abercrombie, was born in South Carolina and before 20 Jun 1819, the year his first child, Sarah Aracey Abercrombie, was born in Georgia, he and his wife, Sarah Aracey (Picard) Abercrombie, and their children moved to Georgia where his wife, Sarah, died about 1820.

William Abercrombie was recorded on the 1819 tax list of Franklin Co., GA.

William married his second wife, Mary Adams, about 1820 in Carroll Co., GA.

The 1830 US Census of Henry Co., GA enumerated William Abercrombie as 50-60 Y/O HOH (Head of Household).

The 1840 US Census of Fayette Co., GA enumerated William A'Crumbie as 60-70 Y/O HOH (Head of Household).

The 1850 US Census of Fayette County, Georgia enumerated the household of 85 Y/O William A'Crumbie, Sr., a farmer born in South Carolina and, his 78 Y/O wife, “Mary” [Mary (Adams) Abercrombie], also born in South Carolina living alone.
NOTE: Living in the 1850 household 2 doors away was 46 Y/O William A'Crumbie (William Abercrombie, Jr.), a farmer born in South Carolina and his wife, Mahala S. Vining Abercrombie, born in GA. All evidence points to this William A'Crumbie (1804-1885) being a son of William Abercrombie, Sr. (1765-1860).
NOTE: Living next door to 85 Y/O William A'Crumbie, Sr. (1765-1855) in 1850 was 30 Y/O Henry A'Crumby (Henry David Abercrombie), a farmer born in GA (Confirming that the Abercrombie family's moved to Georgia prior to 1820 and that William's first wife, Sarah Aracey Picard, died in GA.) Henry Abercrombie was another son of William Abercrombie, Sr. (1765-1860).
