Frances (McPeek) Bates, 87, of Parkersburg died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Worthington Manor.
She was born in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Otto Jean and Margaret (Jones) McPeek.
She was a homemaker and a 1938 graduate of Parkersburg High School. She volunteered for several years at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital and attended Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved to skate and bowl, and also loved her cats Junior and Kelli.
She is survived by a son, Eugene Bates and his wife, Donna, of Parkersburg; a daughter, Peggy Squires and her fiance, Robert Zellny, of Waverly; grandchildren, Tammy Carpenter, Wendy Williams, Heather Buchannan, Melinda Elliott and Christy Bates; and nine great-grandchildren, Aaron, Derek, Ethan, Brooke, Isabella, Elizabeth, Courtney, Amelia and Zachary.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy J. Bates, and a brother, John McPeek.
Services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Leavitt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Houser officiating. Entombment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday.
