Velma Geneva Teeter was born February 4, 1934 at her home in the Florence Chapel Community near Paoli, Oklahoma, to Virgil T. Teeter and Lucille (Scaff) Teeter. As a natural caregiver, Geneva served the Garvin County area for more than 50 years as an LPN at the Paul Valley General Hospital. She was a dedicated member of the Paoli Pentecostal Church for many decades. Geneva loved to travel, sew, crochet and make blankets with her mother Lucille. She also took great pride in helping the community through her nursing career. Family and her faith were extremely important to Geneva and she served both well.

She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil T. and Lucille Teeter, daughter Pam Gilliam, grandson Kenneth Griffith, three siblings Virgie Teeter Green, Kenneth Teeter and Pauline Teeter McMillian.

Geneva is survived by two children Brenda Ballenger and her husband, Roy of Perrin, Texas and Bruce Whitaker and his wife, Kelly of Edmond, Oklahoma. Nine grandchildren Donny & Penny Gilliam, Gena & Brandon Upshaw, Barry Gilliam, Karry & Daniel Jones, Sarah Krepps, Jason Whitaker, Michael & Christine Griffith, David Griffith, Aron & Charlotte Langham along with many great and great-great grandchildren. Brother-in-law Charles McMillian, sister-in-law Leona Teeter, Don Gilliam and many friends.

Memorial funeral services will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Paoli Pentecostal Church officiated by Pastor Terry Erwin.

Services for cremation are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
