Fred Schimmens was one of nine children born to Christian Schimmens and Anna Shergon (their headstone is located in Golden Lake United Cemetery). On September 4, 1892 Fred married Amalia (Molly) Schisan. Their union was blessed with ten children: Christie, Maria (Mary), Franz, Florence, Wilhelmina, George, Wilhelm (Bill), Alma, Adolph and Leslie. Fred passed away in 1922 from blood poisoning.
