Mel was born on April 14, 1943 in Bradley, IL. to Clifford & Betty Papineau Walters. He was a 1961 graduate of Bradley Bourbonnais High School. He served in the United States Army from 1966 - 1968 and was a member of the Bradley American Legion. He worked at Tri-City Meats and returned from Rudolf Express after 30 years of service. Mel enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, playing cards, fishing, camping, watching the Chicago Bears, NASCAR and his beloved grandchildren activities.
He married Judith [Judy] Brosseau on February 27, 1965 at St. Joseph Church, Bradley, IL. He is survived by two sons, Raymond Walters of Bradley, IL., Scott Walters and Friend [Cindy Beeck] of Bradley, IL., one daughter and son-in-law, , Jennifer & Brett Lindgren, four grandchildren, Jakob, Larea, Ashley and Patrick Lindgren all of Chebanse, IL., mother, Betty Walters of Kankakee, IL., three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Jim & Judy Walters of Oregon, Sherman & Margaret Walters of Momence, IL., and Tony & Boo Walters of Bradley, IL., two sisters and one brother-in-law, Laurie Peppin of Dyer, IN., and Pat & Vern Chaney of Channahan, IL., one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carol & Geroge Conwill of Wisconsin. and several nieces and nephews.
Mel was preceded in death by one son, Thomas Walters, father, Clifford Walters, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Raymond & Marie Brosseau and one brother-in-law, Jim Peppin.
