In Loving Memory
Stephen Thomas Kitchen
1852-1929
This solid cement planter in the shape of a tree is well over a hundred years old and was hand made by my Great Grandfather. It has been handed down to my grandfather then my father and then to me. I am planning on moving and not planning on taking it with me. I mentioned it to my siblings and explained they need to come and get it if they wanted it, the weight is about 600 lbs, neither could come and get it and I really did not want to leave it with my house. Stephen is buried in the Bound Brook Cemetery in an unmarked grave and I know the plot location.
I contacted the cemetery about three years ago and went thru the process of maybe they would allow it as his headstone. They did not allow it to be his headstone, but they would allow me to install it in a Memorial Garden within the Cemetery and as I said this was three years ago. Today with the help of a friend and my wife we installed it in the cemetery where. I am so glad it has a proper place to live out its time where it can be enjoyed in a quiet serene location. I am sure my Great Grandfather is looking down on me smiling. I feel so good about this.
Sincerely
