Mr. Arthur Thomas Brown, 83, of Springdale Road, Elberton, husband of 62 years to Rachel Roberta Skelton Brown, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Brown was born in Hart County on September 8, 1938, son of the late Omer Sloan Brown and Minnie Evans Brown. He was a 1956 graduate of Hart County High School and served his country in the Army National Guard, from which he retired. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Elberton and the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge. Arthur previously worked as a grocery store clerk, at Monroe Auto Equipment, as a land surveyor, and retired from the Army Corp of Engineers after 30 years of service at Hartwell Lake Dam, Clarks Hill/Thurmond Lake Dam, and Richard B. Russell Lake Dam. Mr. Brown was a licensed ham radio operator and was a former member of the Lake Hartwell Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and reading.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Rachel, include his son, Stephen Lawrence Brown of Elberton; and brother, Wendell Brown and his wife Emily Stovall Brown of Hartwell.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Faye Elizabeth Brown Cole.

Funeral services celebrating Arthur's life will be held on Saturday, January 8, at 2 o'clock in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Interment will follow in Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Mr. Virgil Hobbs officiating.

The family is at the residence and will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home on Friday, January 7, from 5:00-7:00p.m.
