Linda J. Hoffman, age 63, of Edison, passed away Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Bucyrus Community Hospital surrounded by her loving daughters.
She was born August 26, 1958, in Marion, OH, to the late Charles Gordon Acker and Elizabeth Jane (Green) Acker whom survives. Linda attended Pleasant School up until her senior year of which she graduated from River Valley in 1976.
In September of '76, fate brought together Linda and Karl. They were married on May 2, 1981. Later in life the two would go separate ways but their love for each other kept them forever connected.
Linda was a dedicated stay-at-home mother. Being quite the entrepreneur, Linda set up a shop where she did embroidery for others. Sharing her love for music, Linda and Karl also ran a DJ Business called Under Wraps of which they enjoyed all but rap music. Later she worked for News Color Press, and most recently Mennel Milling. She would tell you that her favorite "job" was being a stay-at-home mom. Very early on, she became known as "Mama Hoffman" to many in the community.
As a stay-at-home mom, she earned the title of Chaos Coordinator. While her children were growing up, everyone gravitated to Mama Hoffman's for food, fun, movies, and so much more. When it came time for school dances, Linda set up shop and did hair, make-up, and nails for whoever needed help getting ready. Linda was extremely active with volunteering at Northmor Schools. She would be remembered for Talent Shows at Iberia Elementary, costume design and painting school sets for plays, as well as helping teach art class for years at the elementary. Equally as important, was her passion for all that 4-H taught kids. Much of her time was spent in the barn with the girls and horses, getting them ready for horse shows and the Morrow County Fair. She was often on the go as the team taxi making sure her girls got to all their extracurricular activities. Linda was everyone's biggest cheerleader, but you would hear her cheer loudest for her kids and grandkids.
When Linda wasn't tending to the needs of her family, she found time to enjoy the simpler side of life. She enjoyed being outdoors especially sitting around the bonfire, camping, canoeing, and fishing. She had an eye for photography and was famous for her Hoffman Christmas card creations featuring her favorite subjects- her daughters. Having a creative side, Linda was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, woodworking, crafting, sewing, and so much more. Linda truly was the master of everything she set out to do in life. She instilled in her daughters her Helga strength and perseverance, dedication, passion for people, and amazing sense of humor. Linda truly was the life of the party everywhere she went. She loved costume parties, dressing up with friends to cheer up patients at Galion Hospital, nursing homes, and places of business, and even dressing up as Barney to embarrass her kids at school! She would always make you laugh.
Family meant the world to Linda. She always held a family first attitude and cherished when her family gathered. This Christmas won't be the same as the Chaos Coordinator will be watching from Heaven as the great bakeoff begins for this year's Cookie Chaos.
Left to cherish her memory includes her children: Karly (Casey) Watterson of Mount Gilead, Erin (Eric) Levingston of Phoenix, AZ, Brittany (Dunn) McCarthy of Kettering, and Breann Hoffman of Mount Vernon; grandchildren: Alex and Tessa Watterson, Grayson and Cami Levingston, Leo, Olivia, and Gaelen McCarthy, and Jace and Owen White; mother, Elizabeth Jane Acker of Marion; former husband, Karl Hoffman; siblings: Debbie (Tom) Minser of Cardington, Tim Acker of Oshkosh, WI, and Ben (Tammy) Acker of Prospect; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Scott Mally.
She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Gordon Acker, and brother, Joe Acker.
