CHARLES E. HALME, age 60, of 1637 Mecklenburg Road, Ithaca, NY died Friday, Dec. 10, 2004 at his residence after a brief illness. "Charlie" was born at Ithaca, a son of Everett Halme of Cortlandville and the late Irene Keturi Halme. "Chuck" was graduated from Dryden High School in 1963 and served in the US Air Force in Vietnam. He retired on Nov. 30, 2004 from Borg-Warner Automotive after 22 years service. He was a member of Ithaca Post 961, Veterans of Foreign Wars. His wife, Dorothy Rowley Halme, passed away June 5, 2004. Chuck enjoyed annual travels with his family and watching sporting events.
Survivors include his father, Everett of Cortlandville, his children, Linda Lea King of Groton and David C. (Staci Abbey) Halme of Freeville, NY; his siblings, Sylvia (John) Cicatelli of Franklin, TN; Carol (Richard) Nowalk of Dryden; Steven (Jill) Halme of El Segunda, CA; Cynthia (Wayne) Moore of Cortland; step-sons, Randy (Mary) McGory of Cortland, Michael (Joanne) McGory of Sommerville, NC and Jack D. McGory of Brooktondale, NY; grandchildren, Johanna, Jamie and Amylynn Otis, Leah and Dale King, a great-granddaughter, Ahlexis Marie Tetreault; step-grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 10 AM Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at the Perkins Funeral Home with Rev. David C. Robinson officiating. Burial with military honors by members of the Ithaca Veterans of Foreign Wars Ritual Team will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends are invited to call from 7 to 9 Pm Tuesday at the funeral home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Memorials are directed to the First Presbyterian Church of Dryden, P.O. Box 42, Dryden, NY 13053-0042 or the charity of one's choice.
