The son of Peter A. and Katrina Schrag, Adolph E. Stucky was born on April 21, 1899 in Freeman, South Dakota. He died at the Kingman Community Hospital on August 7, 1985 at the age of 86 years, 3 months, and 16 days.

At the age of 7 he moved with his family to his present home near Pretty Prairie, Kansas. He was baptized at the age of 14 into the First Mennonite Church of Pretty Prairie.

On December 21, 1921 he married Ida L. McClure at Stafford, Kansas. At that time he also joined the Pretty Prairie First United Methodist Church. He was a farmer and a plumber in the area all his active life. He served on the board of the Old Pretty Prairie School District 66 and for a time served on the Roscoe Township Board. He and his brothers spent many happy hours building homes for themselves and many other people.

Adolph was an avid reader. Although his formal education consisted of graduation form the 8th grade, he was a well educated man. His inquiring mind was always searching for answers. He spent every spare minute reading encyclopedias and other informative books. Due to macular degeneration, his eyesight was failing the last five years of his life, but through Talking Books he was able to keep up with world events. He kept alert and continued to be an interesting conversationalist, even as he suffered with severe arthritis and Parkinson's disease.

At the time of his passing, he was survived by his widow, Ida, a sister Mary, both of Pretty Prairie, twin sons John Stucky of Hutchinson and Joe Stucky of Pretty Prarie, seven grandchildren, and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his seven brothers Carl, Joseph, Benjemin, Jacob, Peter, Henry, and Dan, and one son, Robert Leroy.

Memorial services were held on Saturday, August 10th under the direction of the Livingston Mortuary of Kingman, Kansas. Music was provided by Ruby Stucky, Stella Graber, Della Musselman, and Emma Clara Stucky. Casket bearers were John J. Stucky, Joe E. Stucky, Scott W. Stucky, John J. Stucky II, Joe C. Stucky, Jay R. Stucky; honorary casketbearers were Richard Joyce, Allen Stucky, Gary Stucky Harvey H. Graber, and Robert Seyb.
