Mr. Junior Burgess Nicely, 83 of Lexington, passed from this life on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at his home. He was born in Rockcastle County, KY on July 8, 1938 the son of John and Audrey Poynter Nicely. He had been a self-employed contractor and was of the Baptist Faith.
He is survived by a son, Rick Nicely and wife Shelia of Lexington; two sisters, Joy Randolph of Somerset, and Jeanny Nicely of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren: Thomas and Shalanta Gullett, Shane and Ann Nicely, Tanner and Rachel Perkins, Michael and Amelia Nicely, and Tessa Nicely; and six great grandchildren: Grayer Gullett, Ashton Gullett, Addison Nicely, Sawyer Nicely, Sunny Perkins, and Mila Nicely. A former daughter-in-law, Shannery Nicely also survives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genoia Nicely; two sons, Paul Nicely and Stacey Nicely; a great grandchild, Elijah Cole Nicely; four brothers; and five sisters.
Funeral services for Mr. Nicely will be conducted Tuesday, January 18 at 2:00 PM at the Dowell & Martin Funeral Home Chapel by Bro. Tim Hampton. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at Dowell & Martin Funeral Home after 12:00 PM Tuesday.
