Jill C. Adams, 75, of 410 A Castle Bay Drive, formerly of Warsaw, NC and Waterloo, IA, died Monday, April 16, 2019, at Stonebridge Assisted Living, Hampstead, NC. She was born December 16, 1942 in Moline, IL, to Erling A. Michaelsen and Marion Tunnicliff Michaelsen. She married Jerry R. Adams of Ottumwa, IA on May 4, 1962, in Nevada, Story County, IA. Raised in Rock Island. She was a graduated of Rock Island High School in 1960. She attended Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO, and Iowa State University in Ames, IA. Later, she studied portrait art under the tutorage of James Howard Sandin of New York. An active homemaker participating in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts, she turned to pet therapy with her mentor, Margret Ormard, and German Short Hair, Nadia, socializing with residents of the Bremer County Home. As a talented multi-media artist in landscapes and portraits, she loved to paint children with disabilities, and picturing them as she saw them, not as they saw themselves. In retirement she devoted her energy to her husband and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Ann Michaelsen Courtney and Suzanne Michaelsen Carlton, and a brother, Jon E. Michaelsen. She is survived by Jerry, her husband of fifty-five years, of the home, a daughter, a son, two sisters-in-law, and two grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Topsail Presbyterian Church. Memorial gifts may be made to Topsail Presbyterian Church and the Pender County Humane Society.
